About Astro Rover
Astro Rover is a 2D physics driving game set in space. You drive Nova, a young astronaut, in the Hopper, a light moon rover. Hold gas to drive and brake to slow down. In the air, gas tips the rover back and brake tips it forward, so you can pull backflips and front flips. Every stunt pays coins and fills your nitro, and stunts chained together build a combo up to x5.
Every planet pulls differently. The Moon has only 62% gravity, so jumps are long and floaty and flips are easy. Mars pulls 80%, Vexia 85%, Frostia 90% and Pyra pulls hardest. The camera pulls back on the big low-gravity jumps so you can see where you'll land.
Your rover is built from five parts: bumper, side panel, antenna, dish and headlight. Crashes knock them off one by one. Lose them all and you are wrecked and go back to the last checkpoint. Checkpoints also repair a part.
The road crosses five planets with nine stages each: the Moon (alien goo, stampers and swinging UFO tractor beams), Mars (girder bridges, dust bogs and rolling boulders), Frostia (slippery ice, cracking ice plates, falling icicles and avalanches), Pyra (lava pits, lava geysers, crumbling pillars and falling rocks) and Vexia (laser gates, toppling alien obelisks and crashed pods). Smash crates, beacons, ice blocks, crystals and alien mushrooms for extra coins. Each stage has three stars: finish it, beat the target time and find the three golden wrenches.
At the end of each planet a rival waits for a 1v1 race. Zorp fires plasma orbs from his flying saucer, Rivet throws rocks, Glacia throws snow, Magmo throws fire and Emperor Vex fires missiles, then goes mad halfway through. Beat a rival and their rover is yours: the Saucer, the Driller, the Ice Comet, the Magma Crawler and the Star Limo. Each of the six rovers drives differently, and the garage has five upgrades for each one: engine, grip, suspension, nitro and armor.
In the endless mode a Black Hole chases you down a random road and speeds up over time. Keep moving: if it catches you, you are swallowed.
How to play
- Hold GAS to drive and BRAKE to slow down.
- In the air, GAS tips the rover back and BRAKE tips it forward. Use them to flip, and to land on both wheels.
- Flips, big air, perfect landings, wheelies and smashes pay coins and fill your nitro. Hold the blue NITRO button for a speed boost.
- Crashes knock parts off your rover. Lose all five and you are wrecked: you go back to the last checkpoint.
- Reach the finish. Beat the target time and collect the three golden wrenches to earn all three stars.
- At the end of each planet, beat the rival in a 1v1 race to win their rover.

Tips & tricks
- Use the low gravity. On the Moon you hang in the air for a long time: there's room for a double or triple flip, so go for it.
- Flip for nitro. Every flip fills the nitro bar, and double and triple flips fill it much more.
- Land on both wheels. A clean landing after a flip or a big jump adds a PERFECT LANDING bonus to your combo.
- Save nitro for big gaps. Hit nitro on the ramp before a wide gap so you clear it.
- Watch the warnings. Laser gates flicker before they switch on, and lava geysers glow before they blow.
- Pick the right rover. The Saucer is the easiest to steer in the air, the Ice Comet grips best on ice, the Magma Crawler takes the most hits and the Star Limo has the longest nitro.

FAQ
Is Astro Rover free?
Yes. Astro Rover is free to play in your browser on SalutGames. No download and no account are needed.
Why do the planets feel different?
Each planet has its own gravity. On the Moon (62%) your rover floats and flips easily, while on Pyra it falls fast and lands hard.
How do I do a flip?
Jump off a ramp and hold gas to tip the rover back for a backflip, or hold brake to tip it forward for a front flip. Let go in time to land on both wheels.
How do I get new rovers?
Beat the rival at the end of each planet in a 1v1 race and you win their rover. There are six rovers in all.
How do I unlock the next planet?
Beat the previous planet's rival and collect enough stars. Each stage gives up to three stars.
What happens when my rover loses all its parts?
It is wrecked and you go back to the last checkpoint. Checkpoints also repair one part. In the Black Hole run a wreck ends the run.
Can I play Astro Rover on my phone?
Yes. Turn your phone sideways: hold the right side for gas, the left side for brake and the blue button for nitro. It also works on Chromebooks, tablets and computers with the keyboard.
Is my progress saved?
Yes. Your stars, coins, rovers and upgrades are saved in your browser on this device.
